Adult & Apprentices - Head of Inclusion and Learning Support

Salary £52,968- £61,405 per annum

The Sheffield College is a further and higher education institution dedicated to providing academic, vocational, and professional qualifications to approximately 13,000 young people, adults and apprentices annually. About the role

The Sheffield College has created a new role Head of Inclusion and Learning Support for Adults and Apprentices. This role plays a critical leadership role in ensuring that every learner, regardless of background or need, can access high-quality education, develop independence and progress. As adult and apprenticeship provision continues to grow, the need for strong, consistent and anticipatory support systems becomes increasingly important. This role will lead the development of inclusive practices that enable staff to identify needs early, implement effective support strategies and remove barriers to learning, ensuring that adults and apprentices with support needs can fully participate and succeed.

Working across the College, the postholder will establish simple, timely, effective and efficient systems for consistently assessing need, coordinating support and securing Additional Learning Support funding in a compliant and sustainable way. By utilising AI and systems, strengthening collaboration between curriculum teams, support staff and external partners, the role will ensure that support is both responsive and high impact.

Through strong leadership, robust data oversight and a commitment to inclusive practice, the Head of Inclusion and Learning Support will help drive improved outcomes for learners, contribute to the College’s strategic growth and support the delivery of provision that meets – and ultimately exceeds – Ofsted expectations.

Key Objectives:

The key objectives for the role are:

Improving the quality of the provision so that it supports relevant ratings of at least “Expected Standards” OFSTED, whilst working towards an “Exceptional” grade.

Achieve other College KPI’s as set during the College’s annual Business Planning process.

Main Responsibilities:

As a member of the College Leadership Team (CLT), this post will contribute to the CLT’s common goals.

To achieve these specific duties, include, but are not limited to:

To lead and manage the Inclusion Support team to ensure high quality learning support and inclusive practice leading to wide participation and excellent achievement.

· To work with the Assistant Principal – Inclusion and Learning Support, to contribute to the strategic direction and development of ALS & Inclusion and Learning support (SEMD).

· To be responsible for the development and implementation of relevant college policies and procedures to support an outstanding education provision and to ensure the college complies with relevant legal and funding requirements.

· To deputise for the Assistant Principal – Inclusion and Learning Support, if and when required; represent the college at events as required.

· To coordinate, manage and ensure the effectiveness of the process for assessing and applying for Exam Access Arrangements for Adults and Apprentices in End Point Assessment.

· Maintain a comprehensive and current knowledge of key developments related to Inclusion and Inclusive practice and brief relevant leaders and managers and ensure that the College is prepared to respond proactively.

· Ensure we meet legal duties and best practice in respect of Inclusion and anticipatory needs of the Equality Act 2010.

· Ensure compliance of the ALS and Inclusion provision with relevant funding rules.

What we can offer you

As the successful candidate, you will be offered a salary of £52,968- £61,405 per annum based upon a combination of the skills, knowledge and experience that you can bring to the role.
