Lead the design and development of advanced helmet systems and related equipment, incorporating cutting-edge materials and technologies for aircrew and groundcrew applications. Drive projects from concept through production, ensuring compliance with performance, cost, and safety requirements. Senior Engineer Responsibilities: · Provide technical leadership in new product development (NPD/NPI), including design reviews (PDR/CDR) and risk analysis. · Coordinate interdisciplinary teams to ensure manufacturability and compliance with ISO9001/AS9100 and DAOS regulations. · Manage technical information and support for creation of drawings, bills of materials and related process and control documentation. · Support the implementation of product testing and test procedures for both internal and external facilities during all phases of product life cycle. · Liaise with customers, suppliers and corporate facilities – worldwide. · Conduct feasible studies involving cost, manufacturability, performance and quality · Lead design to cost, ensuring all new products meet the cost targets for piece parts and manufacturing costs. · Support internal and external audits and compliance with regulations and standards. Requirements Skills and Abilities: · The ability to communicate design concepts and engineering principles to individual team members and groups from different disciplines and areas of the business · Develop mechanical and composite designs using SolidWorks and GD&T principles. · Experience in Composite materials and design for manufacturability. · Track and implement new composite & polymer technologies · A background in aviation/defense engineering or working under a DAOS Approval scheme beneficial · Analysing and interpreting data, with recommendations · Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. · Use of general workshop machinery and tools · Prototyping using different media · Understanding of Microsoft Office Packages including Excel, Word, Project and Visio Qualifications/Experience as a Senior Engineer: · Degree, HND, time served apprenticeship in an engineering discipline. · 5 years minimum in a similar role within an engineering environment. · Experience of leading small teams.
