What’s the opportunity?
An Associate Engineering Manager oversees the consistent delivery and operation of a high-quality product. You will be the primary contact for all aspects of product delivery, collaborating closely with the Engineering & Product Director to ensure the product meets customer and business needs. The focus is on building the right product efficiently and fostering a high-performing engineering team.
Here’s how you’ll do it:
1. Team health: Support team members’ career growth, maintain a healthy work-life balance, and ensure processes support excellent delivery. Manage a squad or related squads.
2. System fitness: Collaborate with engineers to refine product architecture, respond to new requirements, and meet the needs of users and the business.
3. Predictable delivery: Work with the Engineering & Product Director to balance quality, risk, and value, establishing and tracking realistic delivery timelines.
4. Setting the standard: Lead by example in quality, engagement, commitment, continuous improvement, and data-driven decision-making, maintaining system understanding while being hands-on.
What does good look like?
* Held the role of Senior Software Engineer or above for 2+ years
* Strong technical background in software development
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* Proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget
* Ability to develop and implement engineering strategies
* Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
* Experience in fast-paced, dynamic environments
* Must have resided in the UK for at least three years (additional vetting required)
