Overview

Qualifications and attributes
The role holder will be part of the Derbyshire Pathology team. The successful candidate will be expected to have a good level of general education including English and science, be IT literate, able to perform admin tasks (filing and dealing with queries) and be familiar with safe load handling practices. Laboratory experience is not essential as the tasks will be taught in-house; however candidates should demonstrate good teamwork, initiative and the ability to follow protocols. A person who is adaptable, can cope with a changing environment, and is willing to contribute to a busy team is sought. Training will be provided in-house with competency assessment and reviews undertaken on a regular basis.

Role and site: Derbyshire Pathology has a vacancy for a Medical Laboratory Assistant within the Histology Department on the Royal Derby Hospital site, with cross-site working possible in the future. Service pattern is currently Monday to Friday 07:30–19:30, including Saturday working on a rolling 5-week roster.
