We are entering an exciting phase of growth and investment, and we’re looking for an experienced CNC Machinist to join our team and contribute to our continued success.
Purpose of the Role
The CNC Machinist will be responsible for the programming, setting, and operation of CNC machinery to produce precision‑engineered components to exact specifications. The successful candidate will work from technical drawings, ensuring accuracy, quality, and efficiency throughout all machining operations.
This role requires a self‑motivated individual with a strong understanding of CNC machining principles, an eye for detail, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of workmanship and safety.
Key Responsibilities
* Program, set, and operate CNC machines (milling and/or turning) to produce components to required tolerances.
* Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and CAD/CAM data.
* Select appropriate tooling, speeds, and feeds for materials and operations.
* Conduct in‑process inspection using measuring instruments such as micrometres, verniers, and gauges.
* Ensure that work is completed safely, efficiently, and to schedule.
* Maintain accurate job records and documentation.
* Work collaboratively with supervisors, engineers, and other team members to optimise machining operations.
* Maintain machine cleanliness and support workshop housekeeping standards.
* Adhere to company Health & Safety procedures and promote a safe working environment.
* Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, efficiency, and cost‑effectiveness.
Skills & Experience Required
* Proven experience as a CNC Machinist in a precision engineering environment.
* Ability to program at the machine (Fanuc / Heidenhain / Siemens controls preferred).
* Strong understanding of machining techniques, tooling, and materials.
* Ability to work independently and take responsibility for quality and output.
* Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high‑quality work.
* Ability to interpret engineering drawings accurately.
* Good communication and teamwork skills.
* Experience in large component machining or heavy engineering.
* Familiarity with manual machining techniques.
* Experience in a power generation or turbine‑related environment.
