Due to increasing student numbers our Construction, Engineering and Green Skills department is growing. We have the opportunity for a dynamic Engineering Technician to take an active role in supporting our continued success.

The role of Engineering Technician will involve but is not limited to:

* Supporting Lecturers in various delivery, including Fabrication and Welding, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Electrical Installation.
* Preparing materials for practical sessions.
* Ordering of materials and stock monitoring / rotation.
* Checking deliveries and taking responsibility for storing.
* Disposal of waste materials into skips and arranging collection.Basic maintenance of machinery (training provided if required).
* Security of storage containers and other storage areas.
* Security of loading bay and other related areas.
* Organising external maintenance companies for regular visits.
* Some supervision of learners / external visitors on occasion.


Our Successful Candidate Will Have/be The Following

* Knowledge of relevant codes of practice and awareness of current health and safety regulations and relevant legislation.
* Experience of maintaining high safety standards.
* An approachable manner with a ‘Can do’ attitude.
* Self‑motivated
* Team player, likewise, able to work alone too.
* ICT skills, i.e. Microsoft suite.


Essential Qualifications

* Level 2 Maths and English or willingness to work towards within a given timescale.


Desirable Qualifications

* Forklift licence (training can be provided).
* Use of Abrasive Wheels (training can be provided).
