Building Pathologist – Netley House

We are looking for a dedicated, reliable and proactive Building Pathologist to join our team. You will be exposed to a number of unique projects across the UK, working with heritage organisations through to commercial property managers. You will deliver quality specialist solutions by investigating problems affecting a variety of buildings and should be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
This role requires travelling to client sites across the UK (and potentially abroad). A full UK driving licence is necessary, with pool cars or a car allowance possible depending on the site. Overnight stays are occasionally required.
Responsibilities
* Carrying out building investigations and analysis using a range of techniques and equipment. This is a physically active role and may include working at heights, using ladders, scaffolding, and working in small or confined spaces.
* Preparing evidence-based reports with background research and remedial recommendations, illustrated with photographs, sketch details and annotated CAD plans.
* Providing high-quality, professional and timely advice to clients regarding building defects, material condition and building performance.
* Attending meetings with clients, their design teams and consultants.
* Following established company procedures and protocols and assisting in the development of new systems to maintain and enhance quality standards.
* Undertaking personal training and development as discussed with the Management team.
* Ensuring confidentiality at all times in all matters relating to work or communications with the company and clients.
To be successful in this role you will
* Have UK construction experience and proven knowledge of design and procurement.
* Have a keen interest in building science and environmental science.
* Have a professional, organised and thorough approach with attention to detail.
* Be able to take initiative in identifying and undertaking required work.
* Possess an inquisitive approach to learning and work.
* Have hands-on, practical learning experience.
* Be comfortable working in a team or independently.
* High standards of written and spoken English.
* Ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
Preferable qualities
* Have a Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in a field relevant to the construction industry and built environment.
* Working towards Chartered Membership of the RIBA, RICS or other professional institutions.
* Knowledge of site operations and management processes.
* Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft 365.
