3 - 4 Month Contract With A Local Authority
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and confident Decision Maker to join our Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) team in Northampton. This vital role involves triaging referrals, assessing risk, and determining whether families meet the threshold for Early Help or statutory intervention under Children’s Social Care.
The successful candidate will play a key part in safeguarding decisions, working collaboratively with professionals from across health, education, police, and other agencies.
Key Responsibilities:
* Triaging new referrals into MASH, ensuring timely and appropriate decision-making.
* Undertaking MASH enquiries by liaising with parents, professionals, and partner agencies to gather relevant information.
* Analysing information to assess risk and determine the appropriate level of intervention.
* Making clear and evidence-based threshold decisions in line with statutory child protection guidance and local thresholds.
* Providing direction and professional oversight to MASH Officers and call handlers.
* Recording decisions and rationale accurately in case management systems.
* Participating in internal discussions and MASH strategy meetings as required.
* Working collaboratively with internal and external partners to ensure joined-up responses for children and families.
* Staying up to date with safeguarding legislation, policy, and best practice.
Requirements:
* Qualified Social Worker with registration (e.g. Social Work England).
* Strong knowledge of child protection, safeguarding thresholds, and statutory responsibilities.
* Experience in a decision-making or frontline safeguarding role (MASH, duty team, assessment team, etc.).
* Ability to work under pressure and manage a fast-paced, high-volume workload.
* Excellent communication and analytical skills.
* Confident in multi-agency working and professional challenge where required.
* Comfortable working in a static, desk-based role with hybrid flexibility.
