Overview
We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated individual to a role which will involve you tackling calls assigned to you by the ICT Service Desk and either resolving the issue or progressing it through to third line support. The successful applicant will join a team of engineers and will report to the Head of ICT Service & Support. It’s interesting, varied work which will enable you to build up an in‑depth knowledge of most of our Trust applications.
Key Responsibilities
* To ensure that the Hospital’s Information Infrastructure – particularly end‑user I.T. equipment and software applications (eg: PCs, printers, VDUs) – is provided and maintained in a manner consistent with the Hospital’s 24hr/365days for efficient & effective Information Services requirements.
* To contribute, in conjunction with the ICT Technical Operations Manager and the Head of IT, to the development of an appropriate disaster recovery plan for the Hospital’s IT Infrastructure, and participate in regular testing of its efficiency & effectiveness.
* To implement or supervise, in consultation with other members of the Team, all connections of IT equipment to the Hospital’s communications networks in order to ensure the integrity of the Hospital’s Information Infrastructure and compatibility with the Hospital’s Information policies.
* To manage and implement efficiently & effectively the hospital’s hardware maintenance procedures, and to contribute to the maintenance of the IT inventory register.
* To contribute to Trust I.T. projects as and when appropriate.
* To co‑operate with the Occupational Health Dept. to ensure that the installation and use of all Hospital IT equipment is in accordance with relevant Health & Safety Legislation.
* To install and configure PCs, printers and other IT hardware/software to Trust standards.
Qualifications & Experience
* GCSE A-level (or equivalent) in relevant subjects.
* Extensive relevant experience in an IT environment.
* Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with users in non‑technical terms.
* Knowledge of NHS IT policies and standards preferred.
Working Arrangements
The role will be based at Hillingdon Hospital, with travel to Mount Vernon Hospital and community‑based clinics as required, and may involve flexible shift patterns.
