Main duties of the job
Leading and supporting delivery of the Finance Directorate's financial reporting and planning work, ensuring information is accurate, transparent, and genuinely useful.
Producing clear, accessible monthly financial reports and commentary that help teams understand the financial position and support long-term sustainability.
Supporting the annual planning and budget-setting process, helping to develop financial plans that are robust, affordable, and aligned with organisational priorities and population needs.
Coordinating team work programmes and supporting colleagues to deliver high-quality outputs, while fostering a positive, inclusive, and supportive working environment.
Working alongside the Deputy Head of Financial Reporting, you will contribute to a range of internal and external reports, including Welsh Government submissions, Public Board papers, and Finance and Performance Committee reports.
You will be CCAB or CIMA qualified, bringing not only strong technical expertise but also a commitment to professional integrity, collaboration, continuous learning, and compassionate leadership.

Hywel Dda University Health Board plans and provides NHS healthcare services for people living in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire, and bordering counties.
We have over 13,000 staff and together we provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services.
We work in partnership with the three local authorities, as well as public, private and third sector colleagues, including our valued team of volunteers.

Qualifications and Knowledge
CCAB or CIMA qualification
Experience at management level with proven professional and managerial experience and expertise.
Knowledge of integrated financial systems
Evidence of Continuous Professional Development
Knowledge of Oracle System Accounting
Experience
Experience of communicating, in writing and verbally, highly politically sensitive information to both internal and external stakeholders
Experience of managing & mentoring staff with the ability to lead and motivate
Experience of delivering within challenging deadlines
Previous experience of working with substantial data sets
Previous financial experience within the NHS, Public Sector or a large complex organisation
Experience of managing change and associated behaviours
Other
Able to work flexible hours around key reporting milestones
Able to travel between sites and to All Wales meetings in a timely manner
Committed and self-motivated
Knowledge & understanding of SQL & Power Bi Dashboard Reporting
