Volunteer Shop Assistant – Godshill Post Office
Community ActionIsle of Wight is an Isle of Wight charity, based in Newport at The RiversideCentre. We provide charitable services to a wide variety of community andvoluntary groups across the island. In 2011, when Godshill village shop and post office closedwe worked with the local community, parish council and Post Office Ltd tore-open this vital, rural service. We now operate Post Office outreach services to rural communities in Brading, Wootton and morepermanently in Totland.
The shop inGodshill serves both the local community and tourists alike during the busysummer months, with Godshill being a key destination on coach partyitineraries.
We are lookingfor a volunteer to work flexibly two afternoons a week during the season fromMay to September, ideally Tuesdays and Thursdays. We are looking for someonewith some retail or customer service experience, Post Office experience wouldbe a bonus, but is not essential.
Yourresponsibilities will include serving customers, maintaining the presentationof the shop and replenishing shelves. You may also be asked to receivedeliveries and rotate stock. Experience operating a till and handling cash isalso desirable.
The GodshillShop and Post Office is a valued community asset and this role would suit acheerful, patient individual who enjoys helping others. You will work alongside our shop manager, andyou may be asked to provide support at other times. Full training will begiven.
We are looking for someone with some retail or customer service experience, Post Office experience would be a bonus, but is not essential.
Experience operating a till and handling cash is also desirable.
