Overview
A nationally significant environmental engineering programme is seeking a Mechanical Commissioning Technician to join the team delivering one of the UK's most complex and important infrastructure projects. This long-term decommissioning initiative will ensure the safe processing and storage of legacy materials, supporting environmental protection for decades to come.
Responsibilities
* Work closely with the Commissioning Engineer, taking a hands-on role in preparing, testing, and bringing mechanical systems into operation, including process systems, vessels, pumps, and associated plant equipment.
* Maintain safety as the highest priority, following nuclear, radiological, conventional, and environmental safety procedures.
* Carry out mechanical commissioning and testing activities across all project stages.
* Support the preparation of commissioning test documentation.
* Assist in implementing and tracking First-Off Builds (FOBs) and Technical Queries (TQs).
* Perform testing activities for third-party witnessing.
* Apply and remove Temporary Commissioning Aids as required.
* Record commissioning data in line with project requirements.
* Use completions management systems to track commissioning progress and handovers.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and contribute to design reviews.
Qualifications
* Time-served or equivalent qualification in a mechanical discipline (e.g., piping, process equipment, or similar).
* ONC or equivalent (or working towards qualification).
* Proven experience in project commissioning within mechanical systems.
* IOSH Working Safely (or equivalent).
* Relevant trade card.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
* Ability to meet client security requirements (BPSS, P4 pass).
