Job Description

Job Title: Building Services Contracts Manager\nSalary: Between £35,000 - £45,000 (depending on experience) + extensive university benefits\nContract Type: Permanent, Full-Time\n\nJob Purpose:The Building Services Contracts Manager will be responsible for the effective procurement, management, and performance monitoring of building services contracts across the University's estate. This includes mechanical, electrical, and public health systems, ensuring compliance with statutory obligations, university policies, and best practice standards. They want someone to come in and motivate and support the team.

\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nContract Management :Lead the procurement, negotiation, and administration of building services contracts, ensuring value for money, legal compliance, and high service standards.\nPerformance Monitoring: Develop and implement KPIs and SLAs for contractors. Conduct regular audits, site inspections, and performance reviews.\nCompliance & Risk Management: Ensure all services comply with statutory regulations, including health and safety, fire safety, water hygiene, gas safety, and electrical safety.\nProject Support: Collaborate with project teams on capital and refurbishment projects, providing technical input on building services design, commissioning, and handover.\nStakeholder Engagement: Act as the key liaison between colleagues, contractors, academic departments, and professional services to ensure service delivery aligns with user needs.\nBudget Management: Manage budgets related to service contracts, ensuring financial control, forecasting, and reporting.\nPerson Specification:Essential:\n\nDegree or equivalent in Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.\nProven experience in managing M&E contracts in a large, complex estate.\nStrong knowledge of statutory compliance and industry standards.\nExcellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.\nExperience with CAFM systems and contract management software.Desirable:\n\nMembership of a relevant professional body (e.g., CIBSE, IWFM, RICS).\nExperience in a higher education or public sector environment.\nKnowledge of sustainability frameworks and energy management systems.\nWorking at the University of Manchester:The University offers a dynamic and inclusive working environment, with opportunities for professional development, flexible working, and a strong commitment to sustainability and social responsibility.\n\nWhat you need to do now \nIf you're interested in this role, click 'apply now' to forward an up-to-date copy of your CV, or call us now.\nIf this job isn't quite right for you, but you are looking for a new position, please contact us for a confidential discussion about your career.\n\nHays Specialist Recruitment Limited acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
