We are looking for an ambitious Cable Route Engineer to join our UK Marine Geo-team, focusing on offshore cable route analysis and CBRA.
Your role (Responsibilities)
* Act as technical lead for offshore cable routing scopes of work.
* Develop and enhance AtkinsRéalis’ offshore cable routing capability, including presenting to key clients, conducting business development activities, and proposing technical investments.
* Champion offshore cable routing within the Marine Geoscience team and provide technical input to bids for subsea cable routing scopes.
* Contribute to Cable Burial Risk Assessments (CBRA) and Depth of Lowering Assessments.
* Route offshore and onshore cables using GIS-based analysis; manage geophysical, geospatial, and geotechnical data.
* Collaborate closely with marine geophysicists, geoscientists, engineering geologists, geotechnical engineers, and geomorphologists on a wide range of projects.
About You (Qualifications)
* Academic background with a degree (ideally MSc or equivalent) in GIS, subsea engineering, or geoscience.
* Experience in a relevant role within the offshore renewables, interconnector, telecommunications cables, or related industries.
* Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Proficiency in offshore cable routing using ArcGIS, Makai Plan, or AutoCAD.
* Experience in analyzing geotechnical and geospatial data for CBRA or Depth of Lowering assessments.
* Excellent interpersonal, technical, and report‑writing skills.
* Experience with Geographic Information Systems software (ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar).
The Following Qualities Are Desirable
* Experience with subsea cable installation activities.
* Experience providing input to Burial Assessment Surveys (BAS).
* Experience evaluating AIS or VMS data for CBRA.
* Working towards chartership with SUT, ICE, or GSL.
