Job overview

Ward F6 at North Manchester General Hospital of Manchester University NHS Trust is a general medical ward, seeking experienced Band 5's or previous Band 6 experience to join our team as a Ward Sister/Charge Nurse.

We seek an individual who is efficient, enthusiastic, highly motivated with excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work in our Female Trauma Orthopaedic ward. A calm, diplomatic and caring approach and a commitment to provide high quality, safe and effective care is essential. You will be joining our friendly and dynamic multidisciplinary team with excellent standards and great work ethic .


Main duties of the job

The post holder is responsible for the assessment of patient care needs anddevelopment, devising, implementing and evaluating programmes of care, both for a specific group of patients as the named care provider and in supporting the care of all patients.

As a Sister / Charge Nurse you will provide daily clinical and managerial
leadership to nursing and support staff in the delivery of evidence based practice.
Actively support the Ward / Unit Manager in the effective running of the department including in their absence.

Person specification


Qualifications

* Educated to diploma level
* Speciality qualification
* Teaching qualification
* Evidence of Level 3 studies
* Graduate or working towards first degree in health related subject


Experience

* Substantial experience within role
* Portfolio of evidence showing achievements in practice/speciality
* Recent evidence of continuing professional and personal development, both clinical and managerial
* Evidence of delivering teaching programmes to staff groups


Aptitude and Leadership

* Evidence of proven clinical record
* Maintained development of clinical leadership skills
* Evidence of diplomacy and negotiation skills
* Able to demonstrate imaginative and effective use of resources
* Demonstrates knowledge of audit/research recommendations
* Excellent communication and leadership skills
* Evidence of involvement in change management
* Undertaken a leadership programme e.g. LEO
