Adecco are recruiting for a Mechanical Maintenance Fitter to join their clients team based in Newbury!
Please note this is a Night Shift role working Monday-Friday 10pm-6am only.
Role Overview
This role is responsible for the ongoing maintenance, repair, and improvement of production machinery equipment. The position supports operational efficiency by responding to breakdowns, completing preventative maintenance, and assisting with equipment modifications and new installations as required.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain all production machinery and associated equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation
Respond promptly to machinery breakdowns, carrying out effective repairs to minimise downtime
Support the planning and execution of the preventative maintenance programme
Ensure machinery, equipment, and guard systems are maintained in a safe and serviceable condition
Accurately complete and maintain maintenance records, ensuring they are regularly updated
Ensure all safety, environmental, and housekeeping standards are adhered to at all times
Maintain appropriate stock levels of spare parts, arranging the ordering or manufacture of components when required
Liaise with external contractors and sub-contractors for specialist servicing or repair work
Ensure all production equipment complies with legal guarding and safety requirements
Identify opportunities for machinery and process improvements, implementing agreed changes in line with Manufacturing Engineering approval and validation procedures
Communicate effectively with maintenance colleagues and shift supervisors during shift handovers, ensuring machinery issues and priorities are clearly passed on
Carry out any other reasonable duties as requested by the Maintenance Manager to support departmental operationsSkills and Qualifications
Mechanical trade background with relevant qualifications and substantial industrial experience
Proven experience in both preventative and reactive (breakdown) maintenance environments
Strong background in machinery fitting, alignment, and fault-finding
Competent in welding operations
Experience using a FLT (in house or valid licence)
