We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Key Stage 2 Teaching Assistant to join our supportive primary school team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with older primary pupils, supporting their academic progress, confidence and independence in a positive learning environment.
KS2 Teaching Assistant
Location: Burnley Contract: Full-time (Maternity cover) Hours: 8.30am – 3.30pm Salary: : £14.25 - £15.50 per hour Start Date: September 2026 or ASAP
Key Responsibilities
* Support the class teacher in delivering engaging KS2 lessons
* Work with individuals and small groups to support learning in core subjects
* Assist with preparing resources and classroom activities
* Support pupils with a range of abilities, including those with SEN
* Promote positive behaviour and encourage independence
* Help track pupil progress and provide feedback to the teacher
* Support pupils during lessons, interventions and school activities
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Experience working with children in a school or similar setting
* An understanding of the KS2 curriculum
* Good literacy and numeracy skills (GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths)
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* A patient, adaptable and positive approach
* A commitment to supporting all pupils to achieve their potential
Desirable Skills
* Experience supporting interventions (e.g. reading, writing or maths)
* Experience working with pupils with additional needs
* A relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or 3)
