About us
Shared Intelligence is a small staff-owned economic development, public policy and research consultancy based in London, UK. Our clients are central and local government, public bodies and charities.
We have a collaborative working style, creating high quality evidence to support public service decision-making. At Shared Intelligence you will work across the company and gain broad experience.
This is a London-based role in our modern co-working space on Borough High Street where you will have regular daily contact with the entire team including Directors. We operate hybrid working with all staff spending time in the office every week, combined with working from home, and working on site with clients or undertaking face-to-face fieldwork.

Economic and Social Policy Consultant
We seek recent graduates who are:
● self-motivated, organised, and quick learners.
● able to work in a team and under their own initiative.

Your line manager will oversee personal development, help you manage workload, and be your first point of contact. You will work on several projects at once, and with different project managers and colleagues.
You must have an active interest in UK social and economic policy and public services. We will support you where possible to attend work-related conferences and events.

Person specification
Essential:
● Bachelor's degree at 2:1 or above ideally in the social sciences.
● Ability to work in a digital environment (i.e. fully competent in spreadsheets, online research, document creation, email communication, presentation apps, online meetings, and data handling).
● The right to work in the UK.
Desirable:
● The ability to design and apply quantitative research methods using UK sources of economic, demographic and health data.
● The ability to apply qual and quant methods to conduct literature reviews, design research samples, conduct surveys (paper and online), create topic guides, and set up systems for data capture and analysis.
● Excellent analytical skills, and experience creating and presenting findings from raw data.
● Good basic knowledge of UK economic and social policy at national and local level.
● The ability to write for a professional audience.
● Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
● The ability to self-task, problem-solve, organise multiple tasks, and work to deadlines.
● An appetite to learn how to write competitive tenders, win work, and represent the company in business development.

Key Responsibilities
You do not need to be an expert in all these areas but we do need a quick learner.
● Supporting directors and project managers on project design and delivery.
● Supporting primary and secondary research, including desk-based research, secondary research, and face-to-face fieldwork, workshops and events.
● Analysing qualitative and quantitative data to contribute to well-evidenced research findings, conclusions and recommendations.
● Providing administrative and project-coordination support e.g. setting up interviews and focus groups, liaising with clients.
● Supporting business relationships with clients, and developing skills to build impactful professional relationships.
● Developing business skills including project management and work-winning.

Terms and salary
This is a full-time permanent role subject to a 6-month probation period, with a salary range starting at £27,000 depending on experience.
Staff benefits include: 29 days leave per year (increasing to 31 after 2 years), bonuses based on company performance, pension contributions from the company, hybrid working, phone and home-working allowances, childcare vouchers, cycle to work schemes, and travelcard loan scheme.
