Job Description
Nationwide travel to perform Cabling and Hardware duties at a reputed company in South London for client premises, Data Centres, and Telephone Exchanges. The employee will coordinate onsite cabling and hardware installation duties, working with Core Network and Managed Hosting teams to ensure hardware is correctly deployed and connectivity is tested and reachable remotely. They will survey client premises for WiFi & 4G coverage nationwide and capture vital information for planning future deployments of hardware and cabling for large-scale projects.
Responsibilities
1. Coordinate onsite cabling and hardware installation duties, working with Core Network and Managed Hosting teams to ensure hardware is correctly deployed and connectivity is tested and reachable remotely.
2. Survey client premises for WiFi & 4G coverage nationwide and gather information for future hardware and cabling deployments for large-scale projects.
3. Perform pre-cable and pre-deploy duties where circuits and client sites are yet to be delivered or prepared by vendors.
4. Troubleshoot and investigate circuit connection errors and hardware down scenarios using ServiceNow ticketing system, working closely with internal teams.
5. Participate in a rota system to provide out-of-hours migration and switch-over support at client premises nationwide.
6. Perform hardware upgrades on legacy equipment and re-cable as instructed.
7. Participate in on-call duties for infrastructure upgrades, faults, and expansion projects.
8. Plan workload with Senior Data Centre Technicians based on received tickets.
9. Adhere to internal and client SLAs for ticket and deployment times.
10. Maintain professionalism within client premises, Data Centres, and Telephone Exchanges.
11. Uphold ISO 9001, ISO 27001, ISO 20000, and ITIL standards and practices.
12. Manage access, remote hands, and delivery tickets for colocation clients and internal works.
13. Provide remote hands support when covering Data Centre Technician roles.
14. Follow local policies and procedures of client Data Centres.
15. Ensure Data Centres are clean and presentable at all times.
16. Understand basic support functions in Data Centres with potential progression into a Data Centre Technician role.
17. Participate in a 24/7 on-call rota for client access, migrations, smart hands requests, installations, scheduled maintenance, circuit faults, and other out-of-hours works.
