Offer description

Forward-looking, focused, and innovative — Kingston University is a place where you can thrive. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Mental Health Nursing academic team at Kingston University as a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer.

Join our dynamic and forward-thinking School, where you will play a key role in enhancing nursing practice and strengthening the reputation of the School of Nursing, Allied and Public Health in the field of mental health nursing care across all domains of practice.

Articulate and well-respected, you will teach across pre-registration and post registration courses and inspire our students with your passion for mental health nursing and education. A keen interest in developing innovative, and relational educational practice is essential along with a commitment to co- production with those with lived experience.

In addition to contributing to the pastoral care of students, you will be encouraged and supported to pursue your interests in research, enterprise, or professional practice. Our School celebrates equality, diversity, and inclusivity, and we welcome applications from individuals who reflect the full spectrum of our community.

Please note, an enhanced with barred list Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check clearance is required for the role.

The Person

You will be a registered Mental health nurse with the NMC, educated to at least degree level, and have strong clinical experience. Enthusiastic, dynamic, and highly motivated, you are passionate about teaching and eager to share your skills and expertise with the future nursing workforce. Excellent communication and teamwork skills are expected.

A teaching qualification is desirable but not essential. We welcome applicants currently working in clinical practice who are interested in gaining experience in academia.

Applicants must meet Kingston University’s learning and teaching standards. By the end of probation, you must achieve the relevant UKPSF recognition if not already obtained—either through our accredited Introduction to Learning and Teaching programme for new lecturers or the Kingston Academic Practice Standards framework for experienced educators.

The Faculty

School of Nursing , Allied and Public Health

Our people are passionate about developing nurses for the future, in each of the four fields of nursing – adult, children, learning disability and mental health.

We support our students to ensure they get the skills and knowledge they need to make a lasting impact on society.

We also have access to industry-leading research for nursing and health professions.
