Overview

To manage the monthly payroll process with accuracy and efficiency, working closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure compliance with statutory obligations. This role also supports employees by addressing payroll-related queries and maintaining accurate records.


Responsibilities

* Manage end-to-end monthly payrolls for all employees, including data for new starters, leavers, absences, and variable pay.
* Accurately calculate wages, bonuses, overtime, statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP), and deductions.
* Maintain employee records and ensure data integrity in payroll systems.
* Review and validate timesheets, absences, and overtime submissions.
* Ensure all payroll transactions are processed in a timely and correct manner.
* Prepare and submit payroll reports for internal directors and external stakeholders.
* Liaise with HR and Finance to ensure payroll inputs are complete and deadlines are met.
* Process year-end reporting, including P60s and other tax documentation.


Compliance & Reporting

* Ensure payroll activities comply with HMRC regulations, including RTI submissions.
* Administer pension contributions and auto-enrolment obligations. (auto-enrolment, opt-in/out)
* Support internal and external audits by providing relevant payroll data.
* Keep up to date with changes in payroll legislation and regulations.


Employee Support

* Handle payroll-related queries professionally and efficiently.
* Distribute payslips and official payroll documentation.
* Communicate with HMRC, pension providers, and benefit administrators as needed.


Continuous Improvement

* Identify process enhancements to improve payroll accuracy and efficiency.
* Support the implementation or upgrade of payroll software systems.
* Based at the Harrow office (with hybrid options available).


Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or a related discipline.
* 2-5 years' experience in a payroll-focused role.
* Solid knowledge of payroll software and systems (e.g., Sage, Payroll Manager, ADP, Xero, QuickBooks).
* Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation, tax codes, and statutory payments.
* Excellent Excel and data management skills.
* High attention to detail and accuracy.
* Strong organisational and time-management skills.
* Ability to manage sensitive information with discretion.
* Clear communication and interpersonal skills.
* Essential Knowledge of HMRC, RTI, and auto-enrolment
* Essential Accuracy and attention to detail
* Essential Strong Excel and data handling skills
* Essential Experience using payroll software (e.g., Sage, Payroll Manager, ADP, Xero, QuickBooks)
* Desirable Understanding of GDPR in the payroll context
* Desirable Payroll qualification (e.g., CIPP Level 3)


Additional Information

* Standard working hours with occasional overtime during year-end or payroll peaks.
