SEN Teaching Assistant Location: York, North Yorkshire Start Date: September 2025 Salary: £83 - £100 per day GSL Education are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to work at a Client Secondary School located in York, North Yorkshire, starting in September 2025. Performing arts, music, dance, and drama, are an essential part of every student's education at both Key Stages 3 and 4. The school currently works with students who have a wide range of additional needs, such as dyslexia, physical disabilities, issues with speech, language, and communication, conditions on the autism spectrum, more general learning difficulties, individuals with rare syndromes, impairments to hearing and vision, and attention deficit disorders. SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities: Deliver personalised 1:1 and small group support to students with special educational needs. Monitor and record progress, feeding back to teaching staff. Assist with lesson delivery, adapting tasks to make learning accessible and engaging. Implement strategies to support the student's emotional, social, and academic development. Assist with emotional regulation strategies and de-escalate challenging behaviour. SEN Teaching Assistant Requirements: Must have the legal right to work in the UK. A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with SEN. Experience working with students with SEN, particularly those with ASC, ADHD, SEMH, MLD or SLD. Hold an enhanced Child Workforce DBS, registered on the update service, or be willing to obtain one through GSL Education. Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE, Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning) are desirable but not essential.
