About the Role:
Here at Alexander Steele Recruitment we continue to work with a large manufacturing group. We are currently supporting them with the recruitment for a driven and people-focused Hygiene Supervisor to lead hygiene operations at their Walsall site. This position offers a genuine opportunity to influence standards, embed best practice, and raise performance across the site. You will be instrumental in ensuring hygiene activities support food safety, customer confidence, and regulatory compliance, while continuously improving the way they work.

What You’ll Be Responsible For:
* Providing strong day to day leadership to the hygiene team, ensuring high standards are consistently achieved.
* Planning, managing, and optimising hygiene programmes to ensure work is completed efficiently and effectively.
* Developing team capability through effective supervision, coaching, and performance management.
* Acting as the hygiene lead during internal, customer, and third-party audits, presenting a professional and compliant operation.
* Identifying and implementing improvement opportunities to enhance hygiene methods, productivity, resource use, and asset care.
* Monitoring performance metrics and staffing levels, taking action to maintain operational effectiveness.
* Supporting recruitment activity and managing colleagues in line with agreed headcount and budgetary requirements.
* Embedding safe working practices and ensuring health and safety remains a top priority at all times.
* Creating a positive, high-performing culture with clear standards, accountability, and engagement.
What We’re Looking For:
* Proven hygiene experience within a food manufacturing environment and team leadership experience are essential; a food science or related qualification is desirable but not required.
* IOSH Managing Safely qualification or a commitment to achieve it.
* Working knowledge of hygiene systems and their role in protecting product quality and operational efficiency.
* A calm, organised approach, with the ability to make sound decisions in a busy and demanding environment.
* Clear and effective communication skills, with confidence engaging at all levels of the business.
* Comfortable using IT systems for reporting, monitoring, and documentation
