Housing Advisor - Northern Ireland Housing Executive - Portadown
Join the team at the Northern Ireland Housing Executive in Portadown as a Housing Advisor and play a key role in assessing customers' circumstances and needs, working with relevant internal departments and agencies to provide good quality housing solutions. About the role:
1. £16.90 per hour
2. 37 hours per week
3. Portadown
4. Holidays: 35 days pro rata
5. Duration: Temporary, ongoing
What you'll be doing in this role:
6. Provide housing advice and assistance to people, who often have complex needs or are facing difficult circumstances, with a focus on preventing homelessness.
7. Undertake comprehensive investigations and make robust legal decisions and fulfil duties under the Housing Order (NI) 1988 (as amended).
8. Arrange emergency accommodation, ensuring that any temporary accommodation that may be required under a full homelessness duty is provided.
9. Take a case management approach to customer’s need, keeping and maintaining detailed and accurate records of action taken in each case.
10. Actively seek ways to ensure customers are tenancy ready when appropriate through engagement with other agencies, landlords etc.
What you'll need for this role:
11. Hold a degree or equivalent and a minimum of 1 years relevant experience in a customer support environment
12. OR Hold a BTEC Higher Cert/Diploma qualification in Housing and a minimum of 1 years relevant experience in a customer support environment
13. OR Hold a BTEC Higher Cert/Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 2 years relevant experience in a customer support environment
14. ORCan demonstrate equivalent continuing professional development or experiential learning and at least 3 years relevant experience in a customer support environment.
15. Relevant experience in interpreting relevant policy and statutory requirements to make appropriate decisions to meet the needs of customers.
16. Experience working as an effective team member to support the achievement of shared outcomes
17. A full current driving licence and access to a form of transport.
18. Experience working with both internal and external stakeholders to find effective housing solutions.
19. As part of the reference checking and vetting process for this position you will be requested to undertake a Basic AccessNI Disclosure. Having a criminal record will not necessarily be a bar to obtaining a position.
