Reporting to the Design Engineering Manager, you'll take ownership of complex mechanical design projects from concept to completion

The Role
1. Lead mechanical design of custom machinery, robotic cells and automation systems
2. Create 3D models, detail drawings and assemblies using SolidWorks
3. Manage prototype development, assembly, testing and commissioning
4. Present design concepts and reviews to internal and external stakeholders
5. Ensure compliance with CE marking, ISO and Machinery Directives
6. Collaborate across disciplines: electrical, controls and software teams
7. Support project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation
8. Mentor junior engineers and promote design best practices
The Person
9. Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
10. 7+ years' experience in mechanical design – ideally in automation or robotics
11. Proficient in CAD (SolidWorks, Draftsight)
12. Experience designing with pneumatics, conveyors, machine vision & robotics
13. Strong knowledge of DFM/DFA, FEA and prototyping methods
14. Understanding of mechanical/electrical integration & PLC interfaces
