Job Title: Veterinary Surgeon
Salary: Up to £65,000 per annum FTE (D.O.E)
Practice: Garston Veterinary Group
Location: Somerset and Wiltshire
Job Type: Full-time, part-time and flexible shifts welcomed.
Hours: 40‑hr week, over 4 x 10‑hr days (or 30-hr week, over 3 x 10-hr days for part-time)

• Quality Clinical Facilities – Across our surgeries you’ll find: modern theatres & laparoscopic kit, digital X‑ray, dental X‑ray & ultrasound, full dental staging for every patient, laser therapy and orthopaedic surgery, isolation wards & well‑equipped consult rooms, onsite laboratory, and a CT scanner at our Frome hospital.
• All branches ISFM Cat Friendly Clinics, with dedicated feline appointment blocks.

The Team

Our vets meet monthly on Teams and come together quarterly for an in‑person breakfast meeting, giving all clinicians a voice in shaping our protocols and services. We’re passionate about clear communication, celebrating achievements, and encouraging regular feedback from the whole Garston team, something we believe is essential in the veterinary profession.

Our vets are supported by a fantastic department of over 50 nurses, from highly experienced RVNs performing Schedule 3 patient procedures, to our dedicated student nurses and PCAs. Alongside them, our knowledgeable client care team and in‑house receptionist and nurse‑led call centre ensure every client receives an exceptional experience. With this level of support behind you, you can focus on delivering the highest standard of veterinary care.

Our Vet Rota – Designed for Work‑Life Balance

Weekday Rota

• One fixed or rotating weekday off – your choice!
• A mix of theatre, consulting and hospital work
• Love consulting? We also offer a Consult‑Only Vet Package with some weekend daytime consulting, but no out of hours work.

Out‑of‑Hours Rota

• Approx 1 in 20 weeknights
• 1st on‑call = sleeper shift, 3pm‑8am (your following day is off)
• 9 weekends per year, with an extra weekday off in lieu per full weekend worked
• Surgeries open for weekend consulting fits into our OOH rota
• Always 2 vets on call
• OOH nurses triage all calls and provide around the clock care to our patients

• Confidence with routine consults & surgeries (support given wherever needed)
• RCVS‐registered and completion of VetGDP
