Job Description
Overview of Role
3. Prepare and review financial statements in compliance with regulatory standards.
4. Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting processes.
5. Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and explanations.
6. Collaborate with stakeholders to provide financial insights and analysis.
7. Develop and maintain financial reporting processes and controls.
8. Monitor compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
9. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
10. Provide guidance and support to the accounting team as needed.
Core Technical Expertise
11. Deep, hands‑on experience applying complex IFRS standards, including:IFRS 15 - Revenue Recognition (with practical ownership of revenue models, contract assessments, variable consideration, and revenue disclosures)IFRS 16 - Leases (including lease recognition, remeasurement, embedded lease assessment, and supporting audit queries)IFRS 3 - Business Combinations (purchase price allocation, fair‑value measurement, goodwill assessment, and acquisition accounting papers)Exposure to impact assessment of emerging standards, e.g. IFRS 18 (desirable)
Group Reporting & Consolidation
12. Proven experience leading the technical elements of group reporting, including:Complex group consolidations (multi‑entity, multi‑jurisdiction)Preparation and review of group cashflow statementsOwnership of segmental reporting and related disclosuresManaging and concluding technical accounting judgements arising at group level
13. Ability to work with minimal guidance to interpret, document and resolve complex group reporting issues.
Listed / Big 4 / Audit Background
14. Experience within a FTSE‑listed organisation or Big 4/professional practice background with:Leading complex group audits of multi‑entity structuresDrafting technical position papers on key accounting treatmentsManaging auditor discussions and defending management's accounting judgements
15. Understanding of the governance, control environment and disclosure requirements typical in listed-company reporting.
Technical Judgement & Governance
16. Demonstrable track record in:Drafting Accounting Committee (AC) papers and advising senior leadership on technical mattersSupporting Audit Committee discussions with clear, concise technical explanationsProviding guidance on accounting policy decisions, restatements, and interpretation of standards
17. Ability to independently assess, challenge and finalise financial statement disclosures.
Annual Report & Accounts Ownership
18. Experience reviewing, drafting and finalising full Annual Report & Accounts, including:High‑quality note disclosures with technical insightEnsuring compliance with IFRS disclosure requirementsCritiquing and improving content with limited direction
19. Ability to take end‑to‑end ownership of technically challenging accounting areas and deliver final outputs confidently.
The Successful Applicant
A successful Financial Reporting Manager should have:
20. A professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, ACA, or CIMA).
21. Proven experience in financial reporting within a relevant industry.
22. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
23. Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
24. Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
25. Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams.
26. In depth Knowledge of SOX
27. Exposure to FTSE 100 businesses
