Role outline
As a placement student in civil engineering, you'll engage in daily site activities and report to senior engineers. You'll collaborate with industry experts to deepen your understanding of your project. With mentorship and coaching, you'll face exciting challenges that will help you build a successful career in this dynamic field. Expect some travel to various construction sites and company locations as part of the role.
Project Outline
Farrans is currently undertaking a significant infrastructure project in Northern Ireland, focusing on enhancing the Northern Irish Water system. The project aims to improve water quality and supply reliability, ensuring sustainable water services for the community.
As a Placement Civil Construction Engineer your duties will include:
1. Undertaking surveys and setting-out on site
2. Preparation of drawings and calculations to ensure quality control and compliance procedures are adhered to for engineering
3. Monitoring construction progress to ensure that deadlines are being met
4. Liaising with clients and carrying out site investigations
5. Coordinating with engineers, subcontractors, and other parties involved in the construction project to ensure that all work is completed according to specifications.
6. Liaising with quantity surveyors about the ordering and the pricing of materials
7. Ensuring that health and safety and sustainability policies and legislation are adhered to.
Required Skills and Experience
8. Studying a Civil or Construction/Project Management Degree
9. Hold a full UK driving license
10. Passionate about starting a career in the civils industry
11. High attention to detail coupled with meticulous planning and organisational skills
12. Demonstrate a strong interest in all aspects of engineering and looking for a dynamic workplace that provides an outstanding career opportunity
13. Excellent good communication skills, be able to work flexibly in a team and be a hard worker
