what we need |
we are looking for an ESG manager to lead our sustainability strategy and the communication of this to our team members and guests, partnering with a number of key players across property, procurement, technical, food development, people and operations. It is your role to ensure wagamama continues to grow responsibly while staying true to our values. You’ll shape initiatives that reduce our environmental footprint, support our people, strengthen communities and help us become an even greater force for good in casual dining
what you’ll do |
* accountable for defining the 3 year and in year planet and community targets and priority initiatives for wagamama aligned to group priorities and targets and defined in partnership with wagamama SMEs across property, procurement, food development, operations technical and people team
* develop the wagamama impact report and communication strategy and messaging and sentiment tracking for internal team members and guests covering onboarding of new team members, restaurant communication, quarterly updates to noodle HQ and sentiment tracking across both internal engagement surveys and external guest trackers. Accountable for ensuring all our own channels always remain updated on ESG topics (web / app / soul club / restaurant materials)
* accountable for managing our guest facing community partnership of food cycle (and any others we decide eg Olio), ensuring the partnership is embedded fully in our business from exec through to our restaurant teams with clear ambition / goals and activation plan that is positively impactful for our teams and food cycle with regular communication of progress
* work closely with procurementand the food team to improve our carbon footprint with a focus on food and menu (75% of carbon reduction needs to come via food), provide quarterly review of menu progress on carbon reduction, inspire / influence the food team to think carbon when designing menu and report carbon footprint of newly introduced dishes and removals as part of the monthly food meeting
* lead the trial and roll out of planet based initiatives that are restaurant facing
what you’ll need |
* 3–5 years in ESG, sustainability, CSR, or a related field, ideally within hospitality, retail, or FMCG.
* degree (or equivalent experience) in sustainability, environmental science, social impact, business, or related discipline.
* strong understanding of ESG frameworks and reporting standards Awareness of UK/EU sustainability regulations, modern slavery standards, and net zero pathways.
* ability to analyse, interpret, and present ESG data in a clear and actionable way.
* project Management: Proven ability to design, lead, and deliver cross-functional ESG initiatives, with strong organisational and time management skills.
