Medical Secretary - East Dermatology

We have an exciting opportunity to join our friendly and motivated Dermatology admin team.
We are looking for an experienced Medical Secretary who will work with our dedicated team of Consultants, Nurse specialists, and other clinical team members. We are keen to hear from applicants who can demonstrate organisational skills and who can work on their own initiative.
Main duties of the job
You will be responsible for a wide range of medical secretarial and admin duties and will provide administration support for the clinical team, including medical audio typing, diary management and monitoring of Departmental/Trust targets such as letter turnaround times and RTT. You will also be responsible for cashing up clinic sessions, ensuring patients are added to the correct waiting list and their pathways are updated correctly. The role requires coping with interruptions while concentrating and managing conflicting priorities.
Key responsibilities
* Completing tasks and emails.
* Dealing with patient calls and emails and liaising with medical professionals.
* Preparing bags/documentation for sample collections.
* Cashing up clinics.
* Supporting the wider team and management.
* Ensuring 2ww referrals are typed in a timely manner.
Qualifications and skills
* Evidence of good communication skills both verbal and non‑verbal.
* Excellent administrative and IT skills.
* Audio typing experience to a high standard.
* Understanding of medical terminology.
* Significant medical secretarial experience (A&C4 equivalent).
* Strong understanding and management of health records, waiting lists and ICT computer systems.
* RSA 3 typing or equivalent experience.
* Advanced ECDL or equivalent, with supervisory and staff training skills.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to write detailed and accurate reports.
