We are seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Planning and Highways Lawyer to join our dedicated Planning & Highways Team within Legal Services. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to Herefordshire's growth in a supportive environment.
The role requires experience in planning and highways law, with demonstrated knowledge in these areas. Responsibilities include providing legal advice on issues such as:
* Large-scale redevelopment schemes, CPOs, listed buildings, land contamination
* Drafting S106 and Highway Agreements
* Planning enforcement, prosecutions, appeals, and public inquiries
* Lawful Development Certificates, TPO advice
* Judicial Review, High Court proceedings, and governance
You will also:
* Advise councillors, stakeholders, and senior officers, liaising with external bodies and legal advisors
* Attend decision-making meetings, including remotely or in person
* Advocate on contentious planning and highway matters, draft documents, and review reports
* Support the development of the Legal Services Team and mentor junior members, including the Legal Apprentice
The ideal candidate is a Solicitor or Legal Executive, a fellow of CiLEX, or a qualified barrister. We welcome applicants at any career stage, from both public and private sectors.
