The Role
As an Applications Engineer, you will take ownership of Electrical projects from sales handover through to manufacture, test and delivery. Acting as the technical point of contact, you’ll work closely with internal teams and clients to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and to specification.
This is a hands-on, project-focused role combining technical coordination, electrical design involvement and shopfloor engagement.
Key responsibilities include:
1. Reviewing project handovers from the sales team to validate technical scope
2. Supporting electrical design work including schematics and panel layouts (AutoCAD Electrical)
3. Acting as the main point of contact for clients throughout project delivery
4. Conducting site visits and surveys as required
5. Selecting components and producing parts lists/BOMs
6. Liaising with fabrication and manufacturing teams through the build process
7. Monitoring projects through the shopfloor and test stages
8. Supporting Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and final sign-off
9. Managing contract variations and ensuring customer satisfaction
What We’re Looking For
10. Electrical qualification (Level 3 or above)
11. Background in applications engineering, project engineering or contracts engineering
12. Ability to read electrical schematics and understand panel layouts
13. Experience using AutoCAD Electrical or similar 2D design tools
14. Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple moving parts
15. Practical or hands-on experience within switchgear manufacturing is advantageous
16. Good communication skills and a pragmatic, solutions-focused mindset
The Benefits
17. £40,000 – £45,000 salary depending on experience

19. 4.5 day working week
20. Monday–Thursday: 8.25 hours (flexible across the day)
21. Friday: 8:30am – 1pm
22. 22 days annual leave + bank holidays
23. Option to purchase additional leave
