Senior DevSecOps Engineer – Digital Services
Digital Services is a self‑contained team within Change and Technology Services (CTS) that supports and improves applications and systems across the Insolvency Service IT landscape. We are consolidating our technology stack, moving away from legacy services, and building a sustainable, user‑centric future. The role is a senior engineering position focused on delivering a complete DevSecOps toolchain, integrating software, and ensuring secure, reliable production deployments.
Responsibilities
* Transform technical requirements into an effective DevSecOps toolchain to enable product delivery.
* Provide coaching and mentoring to more junior colleagues.
* Ensure that deployment strategies for products are repeatable, scalable and highly available.
* Keep applications running in production and non‑production environments.
* Deploy applications in a timely and secure manner, meeting cyber‑security demands.
* Define and champion standards for the successful operation of the DevSecOps function within the Insolvency Service.
* Monitor and resolve issues in production environments.
* Contribute to incident bridge calls and root‑cause analysis.
* Provide estimates for upcoming DevSecOps activities that relate to the delivery roadmap.
* Keep in‑progress work updated with comments and status.
* Support development and operations teams and escalated tickets to the Scrum Master/Delivery Manager.
* Build and update deployment pipelines in line with the build and deployment model.
* Raise changes through CAB and represent the change to the service owner.
* Improve the overall application technology stack.
* Maintain documentation that conforms to application documentation standards.
Qualifications
* Security Clearance is required before taking up the post.
* Experience delivering secure, scalable, highly available production systems.
* Strong technical knowledge of cloud, container, CI/CD, monitoring, and security tooling.
* Proven ability to coach and mentor junior engineers.
* Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
* Auto‑motivated, inquisitive mind and strong analytical skills to identify patterns and resolve repeatable incidents.

Technical Assessment
During the selection process, candidates will be presented with a hypothetical technical scenario. They will be asked to describe their approach, detailing how they would tackle the scenario to reach evidence‑based, user‑benefit decisions for Digital Services and the wider Insolvency Service.

Salary & Benefits
Salary: £47,949 per annum. Pension: £13,890 contribution towards the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.
