Transport Operations Officer
* Location: S70, Barnsley
* Job Type: Full-time, Temporary Contract
* Salary: £16.35 PAYE per hour / £21.22 per hour via Umbrella
We are seeking a Transport Operations Officer to manage and control the authority’s fleet, ensuring efficient vehicle allocation, scheduling, testing, monitoring, and disposal. This role is crucial for managing the booking system and supporting the fleet operation effectively.
Day-to-day of the role:
* Manage customers’ short-term hire requirements, including bookings, vehicle allocation, and maintaining hire records.
* Oversee the vehicle and plant service schedule, ensuring availability for maintenance.
* Manage the approved supplier list for spot hire and contract hire of vehicles.
* Ensure the service operates legally within current legislation by maintaining substantial knowledge of relevant policies and procedures.
* Liaise, negotiate, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to maintain effective communication and information links.
* Operate the daily functions of the workshop, including time recording and data allocation systems.
* Maintain accurate and confidential records across a variety of electronic and paper-based systems.
* Handle financial transactions such as taking payments and processing invoices for warranty claims.
* Conduct routine checks of driving licenses, MOTs, and insurance where applicable.
* Manage orders and invoice processing efficiently.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Substantial experience in operating computerised information systems.
* Significant experience in vehicle licensing and hire.
* Proficiency in data analysis and understanding performance indicators.
* In-depth knowledge of policies and procedures related to vehicle maintenance and driving legislation.
* Extensive experience in the daily management of a vehicle workshop.
* Ability to work to and meet strict deadlines.
