UPS Service Engineer – Location: London, Slough, South East UK. Please note a valid UK driving licence is mandatory due to frequent travel and client visits. Your Mission: As an OEM of critical power products, you will work in critical power environments for large organisations, demonstrating excellent communication and ownership of tasks. Responsibilities include commissioning and start‑up on newly installed equipment, maintenance, service and repair of UPS solutions, and utilisation of technical literature such as schematic diagrams, service manuals and installation guidelines. You will operate within a team, covering emergency call‑outs, and will manage onsite activities, supervise installation contractors and coordinate with Service Coordination, Technical Support, Project Management and Account teams. The role provides professional services for Schneider Electric customers, technical support/training for service partners, technical site analysis, field service duties across the Schneider Electric portfolio, and proactive identification of opportunities for additional services and solutions. You must possess test and measurement equipment, a deep knowledge of electrical and electronic codes, and be skilled at troubleshooting with high‑level customer service.
Responsibilities
* Perform start‑up/commissioning, preventive maintenance and corrective/unscheduled maintenance on all Schneider Electric Secure Power UPS equipment.
* Participate and lead in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
* Perform consulting services at customer sites as well as over the phone.
* Work with customers, contractors, service partners, and team members, sales partners, tech support and managers to resolve escalated problems.
* Document all required information for each site visit performed.
* Manage installation projects as well as unit replacements when necessary.
* Properly document, label and return all defective parts used in the repair of Schneider Electric equipment to the designated disposal/repair location.
* Educate Schneider Electric customers on basic operation of their equipment and inform customers of issues that may affect their equipment in a way that benefits both the customer and Schneider Electric.
* Must comply with all safety policies, practices, procedures and cybersecurity.
* Provide 24/7 field service availability when assigned.
* Proactively identify and communicate onsite opportunities for additional services, upgrades or solutions that enhance customer operations and align with Schneider Electric offerings.
Qualifications
* 2–5 years of experience within the UPS industry or a similar field.
* Professional technical bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
* Knowledge of electricity and electronics.
* Safety mindset.
* High proficiency with MS Office and general computer literacy.
* Good understanding of Schneider Electric products and solutions.
