The Role and School
The role of a Pastoral Care Worker is suitable for candidates with commitment, passion, and resilience to support pupils with social, emotional, mental health (SEMH), and special educational needs such as ADHD, Autism, and ACES. These workers operate under the guidance of senior staff within an agreed supervision system, working flexibly across the provision to meet pupils' needs. They play a vital role in creating a stimulating, safe, and structured environment, supporting pupils' long-term development through interventions, coaching, therapeutic activities, or classroom support under a teacher's guidance. The school is located in the Brighton area and was rated ‘good’ in an Ofsted report.
Location and Salary
Billingshurst
£450 - £600 per week
Full Time (Temporary or permanent)
Requirements
The ideal Pastoral Care Worker will have:
* At least 6 months experience in an SEMH, PRU setting, residential, or youth work.
* Experience working with challenging behaviors is highly desirable.
* Emotional intelligence and the ability to remain calm under stress.
* The ability to support all students with consistent, unconditional positive regard, and respond to their individual needs.
* Proactive and able to work on initiative.
