Job Title: Student Support Officer

Key Responsibilities
* Monitor and maintain accurate daily attendance records, ensuring timely input into the College’s student record and CRM systems
* Maintain and update student databases in accordance with internal procedures, GDPR and regulatory requirements
* Collect, file and securely store documentation relating to absences, leave requests and mitigating circumstances
* Investigate patterns of non-attendance and implement retention procedures in line with institutional policy
* Identify and proactively monitor “at risk” students, initiating early intervention strategies to improve engagement and retention
* Analyse attendance and engagement data, producing reports to inform academic teams and senior leadership
* Liaise closely with lecturers, Academic Officers and Programme Leaders to coordinate student support interventions
* Provide guidance and signposting to students throughout their academic journey, supporting wellbeing, engagement and progression
* Draft formal correspondence including attendance warnings, engagement notifications and outcome letters
* Manage and respond to student complaints in accordance with College policy, escalating where appropriate
* Contribute to student engagement initiatives, induction activities and college-wide events
* Support safeguarding and Prevent responsibilities, ensuring concerns are escalated in line with policy
* Assist with general administrative duties within the Student Services function as required
* Participate in relevant continuing professional development to maintain up-to-date knowledge of sector best practice
* Undertake additional duties commensurate with the role as reasonably requested by the Student Services Manager or Senior Leadership Team
Person
The successful candidate will:
* Hold a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline
* Have a minimum of two years’ experience working within the Higher Education sector
* Demonstrate experience of supporting student retention, engagement and attendance monitoring
* Possess strong working knowledge of student record systems or CRM platforms
* Be confident in analysing data and producing clear, evidence-based reports
* Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Show strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
* Exhibit sound judgement, discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive student information
* Demonstrate awareness of safeguarding, Prevent and regulatory compliance within an educational setting
* Be proactive, solution-focused and able to work independently as well as collaboratively
