As a MongoDB Database Administrator, you will work in project teams designing, building, and maintaining MongoDB databases and infrastructure to deliver strong business solutions. You will be involved from design through build to support of both non-production and production environments. We promote a learning culture at NBS, encouraging ongoing development and skill enhancement. You will also have the opportunity to join our communities to share ideas and collaborate with other engineers.

Our hybrid working model allows you to work from home while also valuing time in the office for problem-solving, learning, and connection. You will typically spend at least two days per week, or 40% of your time if part-time, based at our London, Swindon, Northampton, or Bournemouth offices. Further details will be provided upon successful application. Additionally, if based outside these locations, you may need to attend Swindon or London once a month for workshops and meetings.

What you’ll be doing

You will collaborate within delivery teams to build optimal solutions for Nationwide, leveraging your technical leadership and SME knowledge for advice, system building, and problem-solving within the MongoDB space. You will guide and support less experienced engineers to develop fit-for-purpose designs and solutions, helping to meet team objectives.

On-call work may be required periodically.

About you

You have a proven track record in delivering technical solutions with MongoDB, including design, build, and implementation. Ideally, you possess in-depth knowledge and experience in:

* Linux operating system concepts
* Configuring and supporting MongoDB OpsManager for backups and deployments
* MongoDB architecture, replication, and sharding
* Supporting document-based JSON data structures, exporting and importing documents
* Troubleshooting within MongoDB, performance tuning, and index recommendations
* Working across multiple projects and within teams
* Sharing expertise with emerging talent
* Building relationships with technical and business stakeholders with professionalism
* Quickly learning new technologies

Additionally, experience in at least three of the following areas is desirable:

* Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Ansible)
* LDAP integration
* Red Hat OpenShift
* Kafka
* Network and infrastructure security
* Agile methodologies and Scrum
* Regulatory environments such as PCI and GDPR
* Working with third-party suppliers
