Position Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a forward‑thinking Band 6 senior Occupational Therapist to join our Integrated Therapy Team as part of the Band 6 rotation. This role is to cover maternity leave until 11th December 2026 and internal applicants currently employed by ESNEFT will be offered on a secondment basis only, to support rotational OTs.
Key Responsibilities
* Complete specialist assessment, rehabilitation and discharge planning.
* Plan and organise a designated caseload of complex patients within the designated service and own professional activities under the management of the Team Leader.
* Work with patients and carers to identify and meet OT goals, using standardised assessment tools to assess skill deficits, occupational needs and achieve functional fitness for timely discharge.
* Plan and implement single or programme of interventions using treatment techniques to meet the patient's needs for timely discharge.
* Monitor, evaluate and modify treatment interventions to measure progress and ensure effectiveness, involving patient, carer and MDT as appropriate.
* Ensure therapy goals are integral to the multidisciplinary care plan for safe and timely discharge.
* Apply an enhanced understanding of the effects and impact of illness, frailty and disability on the patient's abilities and provide advice and education regarding lifestyle changes and adaptations to their physical and social environment.
Qualifications and Experience
Band 6 senior Occupational Therapist with confidence and professional clinical skills to manage a diverse, complex caseload within a dynamic environment. Demonstrated supervisory and leadership skills to support junior members of staff and students. Able to work a shift pattern across seven days and extended days until 6 pm in some speciality areas.
