The Christie Pharmacy LTD Pharmacist
As a colleague within our team of pharmacists you will be working in both the inpatient and new outpatient dispensaries and be responsible for supplying oral chemotherapy and supportive medicines to patients of The Christie Trust.
Your specialist knowledge of anti-cancer treatments will enable you to counsel and advise patients beginning their treatments with the hospital and the many who are receiving long term therapies.
When sufficiently experienced, our pharmacists support Trust colleagues in clinically screening new oral chemotherapy prescriptions. Pharmacists with little or no prior chemotherapy experience are welcomed to apply, full and comprehensive training and support will be provided by our existing expert team members, many of whom have come from a community pharmacy background.
Current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council is a prerequisite to applying for this position.
Responsibilities
* Deal directly with patients of the Trust
* Assume the role of Responsible Pharmacist
* Deal directly with Trust colleagues
* Confirm the accuracy, safety and validity of requests for medicines, taking appropriate action if warranted
* Dispense medicines promptly and accurately, ensuring selection and labelling is performed according to SOPs
* Counsel outpatients both directly and indirectly via telephone
* Provide advice and information to Trust colleagues on the safety and appropriateness of medicines
* Perform a final accuracy check on medicines prior to supply to outpatients, inpatients and Trust colleagues
* Clinical screening of patient medication
* Achieve the key performance indicators described by the Superintendent pharmacist
* Support and mentor healthcare assistants, dispensers and technicians
* Ensure workload is completed in a timely, efficient and safe manner
* Ensure workload is managed to achieve waiting-time targets
* Work flexibly with teams on outpatient, inpatient and peripheral clinics
* Coordinate and undertake activities to support the efficient working of the service
Qualifications
* Current registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council is a prerequisite to applying for this position
About the organisation
The Christie Pharmacy Ltd Company (TCP) is a wholly owned subsidiary company, which is part of The Christie NHS Foundation Trust. The company was formed in December 2017 to provide a high-quality pharmacy service to both inpatients and outpatients of the Trust.
