Job Overview

The Women's Health Plan for Wales, launched in December 2024, sets out a 10‑year strategy to close the gender health gap and enhance healthcare services for women across the nation.


Opportunities to Shape the Future of Women's Health in North Wales

At BCUHB, we are committed to delivering this mandate through a 'Primary Care+' model—a hub‑and‑spoke cluster approach designed to strengthen local services. We have secured fixed‑term funding to support the initial phase, which includes postgraduate training and development, as well as the establishment of a 'Pathfinder Hub' to pilot proposed clinical pathways.


Flexible, sessional opportunities

* Clinical sessions (some evening and weekend availability)
* Paper‑based review of elective waiting lists


Main duties of the job

* Delivery of outpatient clinics
* Assessment, diagnosis and management of patients with conditions relating (but not limited to) to: Menstrual Health, Endometriosis and Adenomyosis, Menopause, Preconception, Pelvic Health
* Working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams including nurses, allied health professionals and administrative staff
* Ensuring care delivered in line with national guidelines, best practice and local pathways
* Maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation


Qualifications


Essential criteria

* Full GMC Registration with a licence to practise and entry on the GP Register
* Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Practice / Certificate Confirming Eligibility for General Practice Registration (CEGPR), or equivalent
* Included on a Medical Performers List or eligible
* Evidence of continuous professional development


Desirable criteria

* Other relevant specialist interest/skills


Experience


Essential criteria

* Vocational GP training
* Experience in general practice and working in a multidisciplinary team


Desirable criteria

* Eligibility for minor surgery, obstetrics, family planning accreditation


Skills, Knowledge, Ability


Essential criteria

* Ability to take independent clinical decisions when necessary and to seek advice from senior doctors as appropriate
* Commitment to team approach and multi‑disciplinary working
* Effective counselling and communication skills
* Understanding of clinical risk management and clinical governance
* Commitment to participating in and understanding of the management process


Desirable criteria

* Audit
* Research interests relevant to post
* Teaching / Training
* Ability to speak Welsh

* Valid Driving Licence
