Job Description
3. Manage a portfolio of business tax clients, ensuring compliance requirements are met while building strong client relationships and identifying opportunities to support their needs
4. Support the training, development, and day-to-day management of the business tax team
5. Advise owner-managed businesses on a range of tax and commercial matters, including succession planning, remuneration strategies, capital expenditure timing, and capital allowances
6. Maintain a strong working knowledge of broader tax areas impacting entrepreneurs, such as Business Asset Disposal Relief and Business Property Relief
7. Provide strategic support to entrepreneurial businesses throughout their lifecycle, including business structuring, international growth, staff incentivisation, IP protection, and value creation
8. Advise on equity incentive arrangements, including EMI option schemes
9. Actively contribute to networking, proposal development, and the growth of the corporate tax portfolio
10. Identify tax planning opportunities, mitigate risk, and promote cross-service offerings to deliver a proactive client service
11. Train, mentor, and support junior team members within the Business Tax team
12. Ensure full adherence to the firm's technical, ethical, risk, and compliance standards at all times
The Successful Applicant
A successful Corporate Tax Manager should have:
13. Relevant qualifications in accountancy or tax, such as ACA, ACCA, or CTA.
14. Proven experience working with corporate and entrepreneurial clients at Assistant Manager or Manager level
15. Strong corporate tax technical knowledge with practical application experience
16. Good understanding of tax issues affecting owner-managed businesses and their shareholders
17. Awareness of other business taxes and tax reporting processes (desirable but not essential)
18. Solid knowledge of UK accounting standards with the ability to interpret financial statements and data
19. Strong IT skills, including proficiency in MS Office and database systems (experience with Alphatax advantageous)
20. Excellent communication and organisational skills
