Our client is embarking on an exciting programme to implement a new validation process, ensuring rail cards are correctly utilised across bookings. To support this initiative, they're seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join on a 2-year fixed-term contract .
You'll play a key role in delivering complex software projects, particularly focused on API development and integrations, working closely with both internal teams and external suppliers. This is an opportunity to make a real impact in improving rail ticketing and validation systems across the UK network.
Responsibilities
* Lead the end-to-end delivery of software and integration projects, ensuring alignment with agreed scope, budget, and timelines.
* Build and manage relationships with third-party suppliers to ensure successful delivery of project milestones.
* Develop detailed project plans, assigning responsibilities and managing progress against deliverables.
* Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, ensuring proactive issue management throughout the lifecycle.
* Motivate and coordinate cross-functional teams, ensuring work meets quality and performance standards.
* Manage change effectively, adapting plans and resources to meet evolving business needs.
* Drive projects to deliver the defined business outcomes and measurable benefits.
* Ensure all work aligns with the Project Delivery Framework, supporting best practices across teams.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
* Proven experience as a Senior Project Manager — this role requires someone with established delivery experience, not a step-up opportunity.
* Rail industry experience, ideally in digital or retail environments.
* Strong supplier management skills, including assigning resources and managing delivery performance.
* Demonstrable success delivering software projects, particularly API and system integration work.
Desirable:
* Exposure to hardware projects or integrating software solutions with physical systems.
* Knowledge of digital ticketing and rail retail systems.
