The Adult Forensic Service at Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust is offering an opportunity for Consultant Forensic Psychiatrists to contribute to improving patient experiences and developing our new model of care.
While our new model is under development and medical job planning is being reviewed, it is expected that post holders will serve as the Responsible Clinician for 12–16 male inpatients or 10–12 female inpatients, managing their caseload from admission to discharge.
We welcome discussions with interested candidates and look forward to hearing from you. This is an exciting time to join us as a Consultant (Forensic) Psychiatrist. The role can be within our women’s blended secure service (WBS) or our male medium secure service, allowing you to help shape the future of secure services for women and men in Greater Manchester.
You will be supported by a multidisciplinary team, including a medical secretary, junior doctors, clinical psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, and nursing colleagues. To support patient physical health, there are visiting GPs, dentists, and a well-established physical health team.
Additional clinical activities include on-call work, access assessments, and other activities negotiated with colleagues and aligned with our new care model.
Greater Manchester Mental Health Foundation Trust employs over 7,000 staff across more than 160 locations, providing inpatient and community mental health services across Bolton, Manchester, Salford, Trafford, and Wigan, as well as specialist services across the northwest of England.
