Teaching Assistant - Special Needs School
Reeson Education is working in partnership with a Hampshire local authority maintained special school that supports children and young people aged 2-19 with severe, profound, and complex learning difficulties. The school operates across two sites — one for Primary and one for Secondary.
We are looking for enthusiastic, resilient, and caring Teaching Assistants to join the team and make a real difference in the lives of pupils with complex needs.
Responsibilities
* Support pupils with severe and complex learning difficulties
* Assist with personal care, feeding, and mobility where required
* Implement structured routines and behaviour support strategies
* Use communication aids, sensory resources, and visual timetables
* Work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals
* Help create a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment
* Encourage independence and celebrate small steps of progress
What a typical day might look like
* Supporting pupils during morning arrival and settling routines
* Assisting with communication and sensory activities
* Helping deliver tailored lessons and interventions
* Supporting pupils during break and lunch times
* Using visual aids and structured prompts to guide learning
* Assisting with personal care and physical support where needed
* Recording pupil progress and sharing feedback with the team

You’ll be joining a dedicated team with a wide range of expertise in SEND, supported by professionals including school nurses, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, and occupational therapists.
