Job overview
Are you passionate about rehabilitation? Join our friendly team comprising Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Assistant Therapy Practitioners, and Rehabilitation Assistants. We focus on specialised stroke and neurological inpatient rehabilitation, working closely with Clinical Specialist Neurological Occupational Therapist and networked stroke and neuro physiotherapists across Powys. The multidisciplinary team includes a Consultant Therapist for Stroke and Neurorehabilitation, responsible for service improvements in Stroke and neurological Conditions Delivery Plans.
Applicants should possess excellent communication and organisational skills, a flexible approach, and negotiation skills to motivate patients and staff to deliver high standards of care.
Occupational Therapy is a valued service committed to service development, standard setting, clinical effectiveness, and outcome measurement.
This position may be offered under Annex 21 AfC Terms and Conditions, subject to experience, competency, and suitability.
Main duties of the job
* Manage a caseload of clients with complex needs, using evidence-based and client-centred assessments, planning, interventions, and evaluations.
* Provide leadership through supervision and appraisal of junior staff.
* Participate in planning, development, and evaluation of Occupational Therapy services within the team, including project responsibilities.
* Contribute to the development of Powys Teaching Health Board Occupational Therapy Service.
* Supervise Occupational Therapy students on practice placements.
* Deputise for the Team Leader as required.
* Work flexibly across localities and participate in a 7-day rota.
* Provide cover in other areas/specialties as appropriate and within your competencies.
* Offer flexible services tailored to patient needs.
* Allocate work to support staff, monitoring skills and competencies.

Qualifications and knowledge
* Diploma or degree in OT
* HCPC registered
* Postgraduate training evidence (short courses, in-house training)
* CPD documentation
* Knowledge of legislation
* Specialist knowledge of OT assessments and interventions relevant to client groups
* Understanding of clinical governance principles
* Teaching and presentation skills
* Knowledge of OT models of practice
