Overview
Principal Hardware/Data Centre Engineer role at Bell Integration. 900+ staff worldwide. Responsibility to build, deploy, maintain infrastructure across data centres and client labs.
Technical Operations
* Lead physical build, relocation, decommissioning of IT hardware (servers, switches, storage).
* Design rack layouts, cabling, and label schemes.
* Manage patching, cable trays, and labelling following client/site standards.
* Coordinate power and space planning with design teams.
* Handle logistics, manual handling and vehicle loading.
Documentation & Compliance
* Create and maintain RAMS for engineering tasks.
* Keep physical asset and site procedure documentation up to date.
* Support ISO 9001, ISO 27001, PCI‑DSS audits and compliance checks.
Risk & Safety Management
* Identify operational risks and implement mitigations.
* Adhere to H&S standards and promote safety culture.
* Participate in Change Management, CAB representation for data centre works.
Team Leadership
* Mentor field engineers, give technical guidance and feedback.
* Allocate tasks and plan based on project needs.
* Act as escalation point for technical and logistical issues.
Project Delivery & Coordination
* Coordinate with project managers, architects and vendors to deliver on time and within budget.
* Provide technical input during data centre migrations, expansions and refresh cycles.
Experience
* 5+ years data centre operations or infrastructure engineering.
* Advanced understanding of compute, storage, network configuration firmware and software.
* Knowledge of commodity data centre best practices.
* Experience managing RAMS and risk.
* Structured cabling standards (Cat6/6a/OM3/OM4, fibre).
* Power and cooling system familiarity, PDU load balancing.
* Excellent organisational and communication skills.
* Leadership or team management experience.
* Large scale project participation.
