About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and caring Personal Assistant to support a 17‑year‑old with learning difficulties in accessing the community. The role is funded through the Direct Payments scheme and is designed to enable the individual’s family to manage support independently.
Responsibilities
* Assist the young person in daily activities such as shopping, cinema, beach walks, music festivals, gardening, horse riding, and visiting the Aberystwyth Arts Centre.
* Support attendance at horse riding sessions, swimming, walking, and other interests.
* Provide companionship and enable the young person to gain independence and social participation.
* Maintain the safety and well‑being of the young person at all times during working hours.
* Enforce use of personal transport and adhere to all health and safety guidelines.
* Assist with any mandatory training identified as relevant to the post.
Qualifications & Experience
* Full, clean driving licence with business use of car insurance.
* Own transport and willingness to work off‑site in the community.
* Experience or training in developmental delay or similar supporting young people is desirable.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
* Self‑motivated, reliable with good time‑keeping, and able to use own initiative.
* Must hold or obtain an enhanced DBS check – no cost will be incurred for the applicant.
* Eligible to work in the UK; employer will conduct document checks prior to commencement.
Working Hours & Pay
* School holidays: 12 hours per week (Monday to Sunday).
* Term time: 6 hours per week (Saturday and Sunday).
* Rate: £14.00 per hour plus mileage and expenses while on duty.
* Wages paid in arrears on a 4‑weekly basis.
