Occupational Therapist – Planned Community Therapy Service

Are you an Occupational Therapist looking to develop your rehabilitation and leadership skills and broaden your clinical experience in a wide range of conditions?

We have a Band 6, 12 month Fixed Term Contract or 12 month Secondment Position in the Planned Community Therapy Service.

Based in Coventry, you’ll be joining us in a cosmopolitan, culturally diverse city in the centre of England, easily accessible to all major cities. The service is made up of a multidisciplinary team of therapists who support holistic recovery and help service users to regain their independence by supporting admission prevention, hospital discharge and supporting patients within the community.

As an Occupational Therapist in our service, you’ll strive to understand what matters to our patients; enabling patient-centred care to achieve their goals. You’ll help them to understand more about what has caused their health decline and engage them in meaningful rehabilitation that encourages self-management impacting on long-term outcomes. Every patient is different, and no two days are the same.

Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.

The successful candidate will be able to illustrate and reflect upon complex patient management and demonstrate sound clinical reasoning. You will be able to prioritise your workload and time effectively to support flexible caseload management and delegation.

Excellent communication skills are essential. You will be expected to work independently and effectively within the planned community Therapy team to ensure safe and effective management of our patients in the community.

The group is currently trialling a new Integrated Neighbourhood Team (INT) model following a collaborative event with internal and external stakeholders. This pilot aims to explore team structures and assess the impact on patient experience. While no formal redesign has taken place yet, the outcomes of this trial may inform future service delivery and team configuration across the group.

If you are successful in your application, please be aware that your team structure and line management may be subject to change in the future as part of this evolving model. However, any formal changes will be preceded by appropriate consultation in line with organisational policy.

A full UK driving license is essential for this post. Please note that an international driving license is not accepted.

Secondment will be considered for internal candidates – If you are successful after interview, you must obtain approval from your current line manager to accept the offer.
