About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced Infrastructure Architect to design and deliver large-scale platforms supporting one of the UK’s most critical network environments.
You’ll work across data centre infrastructure, virtualisation, containerisation and Operating systems to build secure, scalable and highly available systems that underpin national connectivity services.
Key Responsibilities
* Design enterprise infrastructure platforms (compute, storage, networking, virtualisation)
* Architect high-availability and scalable systems in on‑premise environments
* Integrate Kubernetes / container platforms with core infrastructure services
* Produce HLD/LLD designs and define architecture standards
* Provide technical leadership across engineering, delivery and operations teams
* Support complex troubleshooting, performance optimisation and continuous improvement
Required Skills & Experience
* Infrastructure Architecture / Platform Engineering experience
* Strong knowledge of VMware (ESXi, NSX, vSAN, VCF)
* Hands‑on experience with Kubernetes, Docker, container platforms
* Strong Linux OS (OL, RHEL, Ubuntu, SLES) administration
* Strong knowledge of securing data centre infrastructure, virtualisation platforms, and operating systems
* Solid networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, DNS, firewalls)
* Experience with automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, Bash, PowerShell)
* Understanding of high availability, resilience, and disaster recovery
Desirable
* Experience with EMS/NMS, SDN, or telecom networks
* Exposure to large‑scale distributed systems
* Knowledge of UK Telecommunications (Security) Act 2021
